About Me

I’m Dr. Mary Dixon, a Diagnostic Literacy Evaluator and the founder of Dixon Educational Consulting. I help families understand why a child may be struggling with reading and provide clear, evidence‑based recommendations for next steps. My work is grounded in the science of reading, structured literacy, and high‑quality diagnostic assessment, and my goal is always to make the evaluation process clear, supportive, and empowering for families.

Professional Background

With more than two decades of experience in education, I’ve served as a Superintendent of Schools, Head of School, Director of Curriculum, Literacy Coach, Reading and Language Arts Consultant, and classroom teacher. These roles give me a deep, practical understanding of literacy development, instructional quality, and school systems — insight I bring to every evaluation.

Credentials

I hold an Ed.D. in Educational Leadership and advanced certification as a Reading and Language Arts Consultant. I am certified in Florida as a Reading Specialist and Exceptional Student Education teacher, and in Connecticut as a Reading & Language Arts Consultant. My training and experience ensure that each evaluation is thorough, accurate, and aligned with current research.
